My 3 Keystone Habits

Keystone Habits are THE most important anchors for me to get back on track again

  • after a longer phase of energy leaks or
  • sudden nervous system overwhelms

I’ve tried many many techniques and skills over the years and some of them crystallised to be bulletproof in terms of connecting myself with my body, my mind & my soul again.

Stick to whatever works for you is the most important takeaway.

Yoga, meditation, cold shower - there is a lot to choose from nowadays. I always had the idea that I should be doing more breathwork, because of its various positive benefits, but in reality it is not something that I naturally gravitate towards.

Simplicity is always key, it doesn’t have to look IG-worthy from the outside, and the results should speak for themselves.

Here are my personal 3 Keystone Habits, my anchors for habit stacking, that always get me rolling again:

Workout

I naturally have a lot of energy that I need to spend during the day.
If I don’t release the energy in my body through movement, it will surely build up and intensify my anxieties. I found weight lifting in combination with techno music an amazing combination to get focused again and forget about my anxieties for a while.
A focused workout grounds me immediately into my body. I am present and I love how strong my body feels.

The dopamine release and desire for growth motivates me to come back.

I automatically have less sugar cravings, drink more water and prioritise sleep and rest. Over the days, I become more emotionally clear.

Journaling

This is the most effective way for me to get in touch with my current needs, thoughts, memories, desires. There is nothing more liberating than emptying an anxious, full mind or gain clarity when feel stuck.
I feel very close to myself and it is one of the best practices for self-love or fastest connection to my Higher Self.
Especially in the subliminal states, those vulnerable minutes after waking up, I can tap into a lot of magic.

Having all the mind energies down on paper, makes me less afraid of them. It feels like a beautiful, intimate release. I stop oversharing with friends & strangers as I feel seen. By myself.

Internet-free mornings

Energy flows where attention goes.

Starting my day with at least 1h of undisturbed time for my practices and intention setting for the day is essential at this point for me.
It sets the trajectory not just for my day, but for my life.

I get to create my day like drawing on a blank canvas. Fresh start, burst of excitement, god mode.
With no thoughts, worries and other nonsense from strangers in my mind, I feel much calmer.

I am still figuring out a goal setting system that works for me, but just looking at my weekly or monthly goals already sets me straight.

I can’t believe how much time I spend listening to other people’s thoughts.
90% not good quality and somehow relevant for my life.
Yes, sometimes it is nice to distract myself from my own worries, but the line to overconsumption is crossed very fast.

Through internet-free mornings I call my energy back to me, nourish my body, soul & mind and fill my cup. The desire afterwards to spend the day scrolling is far less interesting than continue building and living my best life. I’m far more creative and can better tap into my subconsciousness when I’m not loaded with outside information. I naturally feel more called to go more into nature and connect with people and life around me.

Conclusion

As you can see, I’m not sharing anything innovative or groundbreaking new. In my experience, the most simple habits can be the most effective.

The domino effect of an internet-free morning is profound. One conscious decision in the morning opens a portal to a whole day of mindfulness and clarity. Which leads to a week, a month, a year… You get the idea.

The same goes for working out and journaling. Over the years, I’ve noticed that these are my 3 foundational pillars of a good life, that naturally enable more good habits to form.
