Celebrating Lunar New Year 2024: Year of The Wood Dragon
This year we celebrate the year of the wood dragon!🐲
Dragons are associated with prosperity, generosity & leadership.
Together with wood, a yang element with the spirit of spring, it’s gonna be an expansive & active year.
Growing up in Germany, even though we celebrated lunar new year every year with really good food and family time, traditional practices such as devotion & ancestor worship was not a thing.
Last year, I initiated a small ceremony with my parents where we built a small altar and prayed. I felt it was a powerful bonding moment for us as a family.
This year, we celebrated separately, but I wanted to keep the custom going for myself.
Also happy to seize the opportunity to connect more to my roots by reading about Chinese mythology and dragons these days 🙂
I wish y’all a prosperous year full of abundance & transformation! 恭喜发财!🐲🏮🧧
Pasta for Dinner
I didn’t had the energy this week to prepare or organise anything special, so spontaneously went out to a nice restaurant around the corner with a friend. We didn’t celebrate, but had a nice time together 🙂 (Unfortunately, there were no Asian restaurants nearby, even though the pasta was really good!)
Minimalistic Altar
As I’m travelling, I don’t want to have too many physical possessions. But contrary to many beliefs that I had, an altar doesn’t have to be huge & impressive looking in order to be meaningful & sacred.
So, this is a quick, improvised version that I came up with with elements from nature, candles, incense, fruit offerings & pictures of my family and grandparents (removed for the photo).
bought some jeweleries for myself✨
