Surrender to Expansion & Beauty

Surrender to Expansion & Beauty

My iPad finally arrived.
I’m typing this post on a Bluetooth Windows Keyboard I bought several years ago for a IoT project. I spent the last hour setting up Github Codespaces on the iPad and figuring out Windows keyboard shortcuts for a Mac device. To my surprise, it kind of worked and except from not being able to see the post images (some error with sharp) in dev mode:

I’m coding and writing on an iPad!
(I won’t change this text, if the deployment works out successfully later.)

Working on an iPad feels different. It’s difficult or nearly impossible to multitask. I’m staying focused on one task. I switch more delibarately between tabs and apps in comparison to when I’m using my Macbook.
I’m currently exploring how to adjust my workflow from now on. Curious how my thinking and creation process will change over time. Also, there are a lot of benefits for travelling.

My first purchase has been Procreate. I think for many artists this is the primary reason for purchasing an iPad. I already got a little bit lost in the world of brushes, colors, and opportunities for growth. Look forward to learning digital art and illustration. As I looked for an alternative tablet version of Figma, I came across the Affinity Suite. What a timing that they just announced it for free. The possibility to switch between Layout, Design and Photo seemlessly looks like a deadly combo.

It feels such a breath of fresh air that companies without subscription models still exist. Thanks Procreate and Affinity! Australia is definitely setting the right tone in that regard.

I’m proudly sharing my bad first attempts following the Procreate tutorials:
