When the Queen of the Night Blooms - An Evening of Family and Miracles

The Queen of the Night Shows Herself

I’m sitting in my bed with my laptop, editing an old post.

The room is filled with the smell of the majestic Queen of the Night. The mystical cactus who opens her flowers only once a year. Mum has been waiting all week for the second bud to bloom and tonight, just minutes before sunset, she began to open, bathing us in her sweet fragrance. Her large white petals reveal delicately arranged stigma lobes, as though designed by God. We set up a tripod for a timelapse while mum excitedly takes more pictures of the White Queen with her phone.

Dad comes in, unimpressed by the event. He asks if I’d like to have tea with him tomorrow at noon after his workout. We recently added several new teas to the home collection, among them a high-quality matcha that looked promising.

This is what my relationship with my parents has grown into over the years, with a lot of conscious effort:

We bond over shared interests, rather than being divided by beliefs.

Reflections on Blogging about Spiritual Awakening

They say goodnight and I return to my work.

What my Past Life as a Priestess Taught Me has been my most viewed post on my blog and it’s one of my personal favourites as well. It took me a lot of courage to finish it back then and re-reading it now, I feel immense pride. I’m proud that I put in the effort to write about an experience that is both difficult to describe and even harder to share because of its potential controversy.

Over the past two years of blogging, I’ve grown a lot in confidence writing about my experiences with Spiritual Awakening. My hope is to demystify the process and encourage others to share their own. I’ve been through an ongoing battle between my intuition that urges me to express myself and my inner sceptic/rationalist who devalues my expression.

In moments of doubt, I remind myself:

Grace gifted me this experience and I’m honoured to give it voice.

I’m grateful for the ability to tell stories - and the transformation I undergo in the act of creation. I’m grateful to have experiences worth sharing.
I’m grateful for the impact they potentially have on the right souls receiving the words.

Miracles Happen When We Least Expect Them

I close my laptop and sit before the Queen.

Mum brought her home eight years ago, and up until last year she never developed buds. Then, as if she was waiting for her right time, she showed herself. This year marks the second year in a row we are witness to her miracles.

I speak blessings & prayers to her and asked for a night filled with magical dreams.

Miracles happen when we least expect them.
Trust in Divine timing.

- the end of an ordinary evening that leaves me with my heart wide open.
